The Rainger FX Minibar is one of the most unusual and inventive guitar pedals ever created. Rather than relying solely on electronics to shape your tone, the Minibar uses the physical properties of liquid to determine how your guitar sounds.
At first glance it looks simple: a compact mini pedal with a volume control and a small sealed container mounted on the top panel. But the moment you unscrew the lid and pour in a liquid, the experiment begins.
The pedal produces no sound at all until liquid is added. Once filled, the properties of the fluid begin shaping the distortion, EQ response and overall character of your signal. The conductivity of the liquid determines the amount of gain, while its opacity influences the tonal balance of bass and treble. Different liquids create different responses, meaning every mixture opens the door to new textures and tonal combinations.
Water, salt solutions, juice, Pedal Jungle Coffee!, mixtures or entirely experimental concoctions, whatever you decide to pour in becomes part of the circuit itself. Many settings naturally produce rich band pass style tones, delivering open distortion with lively harmonics and plenty of pick attack.
Experimenting is part of the design. Simply unscrew the lid, wipe the container clean, and start again. As the liquid leaves the chamber, the sound fades away. Pour in something new and an entirely different tone emerges.
The Rainger FX Minibar isn’t just a pedal, it’s a tone laboratory, inviting players to explore sound through chemistry, curiosity and creativity
