The Story

U.K First

At the heart of theĀ Utopian Fuzz is a germanium diode clipping circuit that delivers thick harmonic richness, natural compression, and an unmistakably raw, organic feel. The waveform leans closer to a square wave, giving the pedal its aggressive, buzzy character, which is perfect for heavy riffs, searing lead lines, and moments where your guitar needs to dominate the mix with unapologetic fuzz.

The Balance control sets the overall output level, while the Expander acts as the fuzz intensity control, taking you from restrained, gritty breakup through to extreme, sputtering saturation. Whether you’re after controlled sustain or barely-hanging-together chaos, the Utopian Fuzz responds dynamically to your touch and playing style.

A two-position Tone switch offers instant access to contrasting voices. The Mid-Boost setting is punchy and forward, ideal for cutting through dense mixes and pushing leads to the front. Flip to Mid-Scoop and the pedal opens up into a hollow, gnarly voice that feels right at home in doom, stoner rock, and psychedelic territories.

Adding another layer of flexibility, the Mode switch determines how those tones behave. In Switch mode, the pedal locks into one of the two preset tone voicing. InĀ Knob mode, the tone control becomes a blend, allowing you to continuously sweep between the mid-boosted and mid-scooped characters for more nuanced shaping.

One of the defining traits of the Utopian Fuzz is its natural upper-octave overtone, a result of the germanium diode architecture. This octave character becomes especially pronounced on higher notes and double stops, adding a snarling, almost synth like edge without the need for a dedicated octave circuit.

Bold, expressive, and deliberately imperfect, the Utopian Fuzz is a fuzz pedal for players who want texture, movement, and personality; not polite tones.
